Please be aware on Saturday 23rd May 2020, we will be continuing our works to remove a row of trees from within the wood area adjacent Queens Avenue, opposite the Alexander Observatory.
We were unable to complete these works earlier in the year as the bird nesting surveys showed that birds were in the trees. A survey has been carried out today (22nd May) and has confirmed that the birds have now fledged.
On Monday 16th March, site preparation works will begin for the continuation of our Queens Avenue carriageway works.
The works will see the continuation of the narrowing of Queens Avenue carriageway between Hope Grants Road and Alisons Road traffic light junction, as well as setting back the footpath/cycle path on the eastern side of the road.
To make way for the new footpath, on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th, we will be removing a row of trees from within the wood area adjacent Queens Avenue, opposite the Alexander Observatory.
Arboricultural studies have confirmed that the trees that are to be removed are of low quality and bird nesting surveys will be completed before the tree removal works start.
We hope to start the carriageway works after Easter and will update residents and the public with more information as it becomes available.
